
Kureha Ground-Breaking Celebration April 8, 2008Kureha Breaks Ground with PGA Plant in West Virginia The April ground-breaking at the new Kureha Corporation plastics plant in Belle, West Virginia was the culmination of a long courtship that began with an invitation by Senator Jay Rockefeller and a joint trade mission sponsored by DRWVF and the Polymer Alliance Zone in September of 2003. Kureha Corporation is a leading global supplier of specialty chemicals and plastics, targeting diverse markets such as consumer packaging, household products, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other industrial applications. Kureha is investing more than $100 million in the new, wholly-owned subsidiary, Kureha PGA LLC, located on the DuPont site in Belle dedicated to the production of a high performance polymer, polyglycolic acid (PGA) to be used in bottling for the soft drink industry. Construction on the plant is expected to start by mid-summer and will be completed near the end of 2009. The initial phase will be a semi-commercial plant that will create up to 50 new chemical operations jobs.
