June 17, 2009DRWVF Seeks to Expand Growing Biometrics Industry Senator Rockefeller and Governor Manchin traveled to Washington, DC in an effort to highlight and expand West Virginia's biometrics industry at a reception on Capitol Hill. The reception boasted over 150 executives representing some of the nation's largest security and identity management companies. The event was specifically designed for out-of-state executives to explore investment opportunities, business partnerships and research synergies with West Virginia companies and universities. Prior to the reception, an investment briefing was held to provide detailed information on the state's business opportunities and biometrics assets. The event was sponsored by DRWVF, the West Virginia Biometrics Initiative, the I-79 Development Council and the West Virginia Development Office, with Marshall University and West Virginia University playing significant roles.
